Folk Song Accompaniment

Today, I launched a new educational resource for harp students who are looking to build their repertoire of chord patterns. It’s a pdf book called “Folk Song Accompaniment” and it works through nine patterns, each presented with a different popular folk song. The tenth and final song in the book combines all the patterns to create an arrangement.

The book comes with two variations on each pattern, origin of the songs, lead sheets, lyrics, and play along melody tracks at two speeds.

Sarah Frank and I have made a series of free YouTube videos demonstrating all ten songs. Check them out here. The pdf is available for sale on Etsy here.

Conservatory Harp Studio

Today marks the first day of the Conservatory teaching term! I'm very happy to be back in the building and to be part of the mini harp department with my wonderful fellow teacher Alys Howe. I'm offering both private lessons in person (with covid-19 precautions) and online lessons. There are still some spots left for harp students this fall - click here for more info!

Online CISHI

This year, the Canadian International Summer Harp Institute was moved online and changed into a 3-day event. It was wonderful to see everyone on Zoom, hear some beautiful performances, share some tunes and ideas, and hear from fellow faculty Gianetta Baril, Judy Loman, Phoebe Powell, and Julia Kay Jamieson!
