Birds at the Mountain Temple

A few months ago, my generous friend Andrew Terris created this video of Alexina Louie's Birds at the Mountain Temple, a movement from her larger work for solo harp, From the Eastern Gate. The video is now up on youtube!

NASA (North American Saxophone Alliance)

This weekend, Mount Allison University hosted the NASA Region 10 Conference in Sackville, New Brunswick. Tristan de Borba commissioned a new chamber arrangement of Faustus: a SaxOpera from composer John Plant for this event. John created a beautiful arrangement for saxophone, harp, and piano. It was a very memorable dramatic virtuoso performance by Tristan and a treat as always to play and travel with Jennifer King, pianist!

A recording of the performance can be found here: Faustus: A SaxOpera - chamber version

Acadia New Music Festival

On Friday night, I had the pleasure of joining the Acadia Wind Ensemble and conductor Mark Hopkins for two pieces - Sunan Dances, by Dorothy Chang, and Faustus: A SaxOpera by John Plant, featuring Tristan de Borba on saxophone. Both composers were present in rehearsal and at the concert, which was an amazing rare opportunity for feedback and insight into the works.
