The second show of our flute & harp mini tour was at St. Luke's Church in Annapolis Royal. Thanks to Heidi, Jackie, and the Rev. Julia for the invitation to share some music in such a beautiful space and for all the support!
This week I spent some time in the studio for some exciting new album projects from Many Worlds and the Halifax Camerata Singers! Stay tuned.
Jack and I travelled up to Arichat last weekend to play a flute & harp recital at the beautiful St. John's Centre for the Arts. Many thanks to Musique Royale and Margaret Herdman for having us and for all the hospitality! We played works by Andres, Gluck, Piazzolla, Debussy, Bach, Tournier, Clarke, Shankar, and Morlock.
On May 16, Dane George released his beautiful album Spring Buds, a collection of original compositions for mandolin! Check it out on bandcamp!
It was a treat to play on a few of these tracks and to be part of the afternoon launch concert.
I had the pleasure of both playing and dancing in Maria Osende's premiere of a new work "Between Shores". The sold-out show took place at the Sanctuary Arts Centre and featured dance and music from a great cast of local and international performers.
Tom Richard's "Monophilia" was released yesterday!
Three records in breathtaking mono, to be played individually or simultaneously. Songs about love and loss in a non-binary world.
You can listen to the record and mix the three layers yourself here: insoundmusic.com/monophilia
Or, check it out on bandcamp below.
I play on Layer 3 with Doug Tielli and Georgia Hathaway.
I recently had a great day at École Bois-Joli, doing harp presentations in French for 5 elementary school classes! Thank you to Mme. Kate and all the students for having me.
This weekend Borrowers played two fun shows - one at the Woodside Tavern in Dartmouth, and one at the West Brooklyn Speakeasy in the valley. We shared the bills with some great local bands: Art Bouman, the Dusty Halos, and Yarrow.
Many Worlds had a great time last night playing in Open Waters Festival at the Joseph Strug Concert Hall!
Although their Christmas Eve service was snowed out, Bethany United Church rescheduled the Christmas Eve programming to their Sunday service on December 29th. It was lovely to play some folksy Christmas selections and Silent Night with the congregation. Thank you to Shawn Whynot for having me back and to the congregation for being so welcoming!
Last night I was very happy to be back at St. George's Round Church for their annual Lessons & Carols service, playing prelude music and accompanying the junior and senior choirs. The choir repertoire included The Snow Lay On Ground (David Conte), Star Carol (John Rutter), This Little Babe (Benjamin Britten), Long, Long Ago (W.H. Anderson), and A la Nanita Nana (arr. Azzara). Many thanks to the music director, Garth MacPhee, for having me and for organizing so much beautiful music.
